Founded in 1996 by Christine-Ann McCreath, KikoRomeo (Kiswahili for "Adam's apple") makes clothing by hand in its Nairobi workshop from natural fibres such as rainfed Kenyan cotton, linen and silk, many of them handloom-woven or hand-dyed by artisans across Kenya. Her daughter Iona McCreath became creative director in 2018 and reinterprets the label's classic silhouettes with a focus on material innovation.
