About the studio
Lukhanyo Mdingi, born in South Africa's Eastern Cape in 1992, founded his eponymous Cape Town label in 2015. Its menswear and womenswear centre on textured knitwear and tailoring, and part of its collections are produced in Burkina Faso, where artisans weave Faso Dan Fani cloth through a partnership with the Ethical Fashion Initiative and the social enterprise CABES-GIE. In 2021 Mdingi was one of three joint winners of the Karl Lagerfeld Special Jury Prize at the LVMH Prize.
