Brandon Blackwood, a first-generation American born to Jamaican and Chinese parents and raised in Brooklyn, launched his label in 2015 after people asked where to buy a backpack he had made for himself. Brandon Blackwood New York began with bags and has since expanded into eyewear, outerwear and footwear. In 2020 he launched the End Systemic Racism tote, and the Brandon Blackwood Foundation supports creatives of color through education, philanthropy and activism.
